据新华社华盛顿６月２７日电，「９﹒１１」事件后，出于安全考虑，游客被禁止登上自由女神像头冠部分参观。在一项拨款法案上，纽约州民主党国会议员安东尼﹒魏纳连续两年提出拨款修正案，为国家公园管理处增加拨款，以研究如何重新开放自由女神像头冠部分。
